I’ve been sitting here for a while thinking of a great topic to write a blog on. Everything that I have read about marketing says that I have to provide my potential clients with great content to get them or keep them interested in my business.
I’ve also been told that I have to be authentic and let people get to know who really am so that they will support and trust me and my business.
So I am going to be honest and let you know the truth. I don’t really know what I am doing! I have never started my own business before and I am struggling to find my way. I am finding the whole process very emotionally challenging and am wondering if I have done the right thing.
I am learning lots about building my brand, social media, Facebook advertising, Instagram hashtags, blogging, networking, writing articles and more.
I am learning that there are many mums out there in business who are dealing with the same issues, the same highs and lows and the same self doubts that I am.
I am also learning that there are many Facebook Groups where mums and women in business are prepared to offer support and advice to others who are starting out and lift you up when you are feeling down.
I am learning what it is like to always be thinking about your business and what you can do to make it work- from the moment you wake up to the moment you fall asleep. I am learning how to juggle life/work commitments without a boss around or set working hours and days to follow.
I am learning that it is almost impossible to get any work done whilst I am busy schlepping my kids around during the school holidays!
I am learning to be more resilient and to pick myself up on my down days and keep going by trying new marketing ideas or connecting with new people.
It is a HUGE learning curve.
But deep in my heart I know that it is worth it, because I passionately believe in my ‘WHY’ and what I have to offer other mums – and that is the gift of time, relaxation, self care, connection and fun.
I know that self care is the most important gift that any mum could give to themselves.
I know that yoga, bushwalking, dance and arts and crafts are wonderful for the body, mind and soul.
I know the joys of escaping to the country and enjoying the beautiful surrounds and finding peace and exhilaration in nature.
I know the pleasure of receiving a relaxing massage or the fun of taking part in a group bathing ritual.
I know that sharing delicious food and a glass or two of wine around a communal table with other women can build connection, laughter and friendship.
I know that I don’t let guilt about having time off or spending money on myself stop me from doing what I need to do to be the best version of myself that I can possibly be.
So I will keep learning and sharing and trying to convince you to join me on a METreat Retreat because I know that YOU are worth it, and YOU deserve it – even if YOU don’t know it yourself yet!
